Job Description



  • Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. 
  • Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. 
  • Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. 
  • Ensures software standards are met. 
  • Applies extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines.

  • The software development group is seeking a skilled, motivated individual to join its team. 

  • You will have the opportunity to contribute throughout all stages of the software development lifecycle from requirements through customer validation. 

  • You will apply your software programming skills, your architectural knowledge, and your leadership toward the development, deployment, and maintenance of our PLC based distributed control systems on Navy vessels. 

  • As a PLC team member, you will provide valuable input toward transforming system requirements into functional code (ladder logic, function block, statement list) that monitors and controls ship system hardware and interfaces with our custom Human Machine Interface (HMI) application. 

  • An employed developer designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. 

  • Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. 

  • Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. 

Requirements

  • 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.

Preferred

  • 3+ year experience in Rockwell (Allen Bradley) RsLogix 5000, Studio5000, PLC/HMI programming.
  • Must have strong background in programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning PLC’s. 
  • Capability to develop/write/execute software unit tests and/or Verification and Validation (V&V) Test Procedures.
  • Communicate with in-house technical and engineering staff.
  • Communicate with vendors for technical information and specifications.
  • Security clearance is not required.
